Who I am
I’m Sarowar Parvej, and I teach the lessons you’ll find on this site. I live and teach in Rajshahi, Bangladesh, and I have been teaching English since 2007. Back then it was just me and a small private batch of students. Over the years that batch grew into a learning centre, Artistic English Learning Centre, and this website took its name from it. Everything published here comes from the same classroom, in the same voice I use when a student is sitting in front of me.
Why I started teaching English
I started because of a problem I kept seeing in almost every student who came to me.
Most of them could memorize. They memorized grammar rules, paragraphs, letters, and essays straight out of guidebooks, and they copied all of it onto their exam papers. But if you asked them to write a single sentence on their own, they couldn’t. They had never understood the meaning or the structure behind what they were writing. They were storing material for one exam, not learning a language.
The deeper problem was the foundation. Most students had no basic grasp of grammar at all, so nothing they memorized ever turned into real skill. That gap, between memorizing for marks and actually understanding English, is what I set out to fix in 2007, and it is still the reason this site exists.
What I teach, and what I don’t
My training is in the subject itself. I completed my B.A and M.A in English language and literature at the Department of English, University of Rajshahi. Since 2007 I have guided more than 5,000 students through their English lessons.
Two things are my real strength. The first is building a grammar foundation from the ground up, the base that most students are missing. The second is the exam grammar and writing that SSC and HSC papers actually test, taught the way those papers ask for it.
I want to be honest about my scope, because it matters. I focus on grammar foundation, exam grammar, and writing lessons for SSC, HSC, admission, and job candidates. I do not teach IELTS or spoken fluency coaching. If that is what you need, I am not the right teacher for it. But if you want to understand English grammar well enough to write confidently and score in your exams, that is exactly what I do.
The gap I kept running into
When I looked for good material to point my students to, I kept hitting the same wall.
There are hundreds of grammar books and websites out there. Most of them hand you rules in silence: a rule, an example, and nothing else. No teacher explaining why the rule works, no one talking you through it. And almost all of the good ones are in English only, with no Bengali explanation for the exact parts a Bangla-speaking student struggles with.
A lot of what does exist in Bengali is thin, two paragraphs of surface information, or written by someone who has never stood in front of a class. You can usually tell. Real teaching sounds different from copied notes.
I believe practical learning needs communication between a learner and a teacher. It should also be enjoyable, something you travel through with a bit of pleasure, and that pleasure usually comes when you can learn in your own mother tongue. Very little of what I found offered any of that.
How Artistic English is different
So I decided to build the resource I could never find.
Every lesson here is written the way I teach in class. I am talking to you, asking you questions, and walking you through each point, not just listing rules for you to memorize. The structure and examples are in English, and the harder explanations are given in Bengali, so you understand the reasoning and not only the answer.
I have kept the tone simple, clear, and where I can, enjoyable. Grammar has a reputation for being dry and difficult. My goal is to make it feel like the opposite, so that learning it never feels like a punishment. When learning becomes enjoyable, both the teaching and the learning start to work.
What Artistic English offers
Every lesson on this site does one of two jobs: it builds your grammar foundation, or it gets you ready for the exam paper in front of you.
The grammar lessons are organized in three levels, so you can start wherever you are. Beginner lessons build the base, the parts of speech, sentence structure, and the rules most students never properly learned. Essential lessons cover the core grammar your exams lean on, such as tenses, right forms of verbs, and voice. Advanced lessons take on the harder topics that separate a strong script from an average one, like transformation of sentences.
Alongside grammar, there are writing lessons for the pieces your exams actually ask you to produce: applications, paragraphs, letters, and essays. Not templates to memorize, but the reasoning behind each one, so you can write your own version under exam pressure.
All of it is aimed at one group: students sitting for SSC, HSC, university admission, and job exams in Bangladesh. If that is you, here is what you get from it. You stop memorizing blindly and start understanding why a rule works, which means you can handle a question you have never seen before. The hard parts are explained in Bengali, so nothing stays confusing just because it was written in English. And every lesson is shaped by what these exams reward, so your study time goes toward marks you can actually pick up.

আমি সরোয়ার পারভেজ, এই সাইটের প্রতিটা লেসন আমারই লেখা। আমি থাকি এবং পড়াই রাজশাহীতে, বাংলাদেশে। ২০০৭ সাল থেকে আমি ইংরেজি পড়িয়ে আসছি। শুরুটা হয়েছিল ছোট্ট একটা প্রাইভেট ব্যাচ দিয়ে, শুধু আমি আর কয়েকজন শিক্ষার্থী। বছরের পর বছর সেই ব্যাচটাই বড় হয়ে একটা শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠানে রূপ নেয়, নাম Artistic English Learning Centre. এই ওয়েবসাইটের নামটাও সেখান থেকেই এসেছে। এখানে যা কিছু প্রকাশ করি তার সবটাই সেই একই ক্লাসরুমের, একই কণ্ঠস্বরে, যেভাবে একজন শিক্ষার্থী সামনে বসে থাকলে আমি কথা বলি।
কেন ইংরেজি পড়ানো শুরু করলাম
শুরু করেছিলাম একটা সমস্যা দেখে, যেটা আমার কাছে আসা প্রায় প্রতিটা শিক্ষার্থীর মধ্যেই ছিল।
তাদের বেশিরভাগই মুখস্থ করতে পারত। grammar-এর নিয়ম, paragraph, letter, essay, সব গাইডবই থেকে মুখস্থ করে হুবহু খাতায় তুলে দিত। কিন্তু নিজে থেকে একটা বাক্য লিখতে বললে পারত না। কারণ যা লিখছে তার অর্থ বা structure কোনোদিন বোঝেইনি। তারা একটা পরীক্ষার জন্য মালমসলা জমাচ্ছিল, ভাষাটা শিখছিল না।
আসল সমস্যাটা ছিল ভিতটাতেই। বেশিরভাগ শিক্ষার্থীর grammar-এর সবচেয়ে সাধারণ ধারণাটুকুও ছিল না, ফলে যা কিছু মুখস্থ করত তা কখনো সত্যিকারের দক্ষতায় রূপ নিত না। এই ফাঁকটা, নম্বরের জন্য মুখস্থ করা আর সত্যিকারভাবে ইংরেজি বোঝার মধ্যেকার দূরত্বটা, ২০০৭ সালে আমি ঠিক এটাই দূর করতে নেমেছিলাম। আজও এই সাইটের অস্তিত্বের কারণ সেটাই।
আমি কী পড়াই, আর কী পড়াই না
আমার পড়াশোনা এই বিষয়েই। আমি রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ইংরেজি বিভাগ থেকে English language and literature-এ স্নাতক (B.A) এবং স্নাতকোত্তর (M.A) সম্পন্ন করেছি। ২০০৭ সাল থেকে এখন পর্যন্ত ৫,০০০-এর বেশি শিক্ষার্থীকে ইংরেজিতে পথ দেখিয়েছি।
দুইটা জায়গায় আমার আসল শক্তি। প্রথমটা হলো একদম শূন্য থেকে grammar-এর ভিত গড়ে তোলা, যে ভিতটা বেশিরভাগ শিক্ষার্থীর নেই। দ্বিতীয়টা হলো SSC আর HSC পরীক্ষায় যে exam grammar আর writing আসলেই আসে, সেটা ঠিক যেভাবে পরীক্ষা চায় সেভাবে পড়ানো।
আমার সীমাটা নিয়ে সৎ থাকতে চাই, কারণ এটা জরুরি। আমি কাজ করি শুধু grammar-এর ভিত, exam grammar, আর writing নিয়ে, SSC, HSC, admission ও job পরীক্ষার্থীদের জন্য। আমি IELTS বা spoken fluency-র coaching করাই না। তোমার যদি সেটা দরকার হয়, তাহলে আমি তোমার সঠিক শিক্ষক নই। কিন্তু তুমি যদি ইংরেজি grammar এমনভাবে বুঝতে চাও যাতে আত্মবিশ্বাসের সাথে লিখতে পারো আর পরীক্ষায় ভালো নম্বর পাও, তাহলে আমি ঠিক সেটাই করি।
যে অভাবটা বারবার চোখে পড়েছে
শিক্ষার্থীদের ভালো কিছু পড়তে দেব ভেবে যখন খুঁজতাম, তখন বারবার একই দেয়ালে ধাক্কা খেতাম।
grammar-এর শত শত বই আর ওয়েবসাইট আছে। তার বেশিরভাগই নিয়মটা নীরবে ধরিয়ে দেয়: একটা rule, একটা example, ব্যস আর কিছু না। কোনো শিক্ষক ব্যাখ্যা করছে না নিয়মটা কেন কাজ করে, কেউ ধরে ধরে বুঝিয়ে দিচ্ছে না। আর যেগুলো ভালো, তার প্রায় সবই শুধু ইংরেজিতে, একজন বাংলাভাষী শিক্ষার্থী ঠিক যে জায়গাগুলোতে আটকায় সেগুলোর কোনো বাংলা ব্যাখ্যা নেই।
বাংলায় যা-ও বা আছে, তা হয় খুবই ভাসা-ভাসা, দুই প্যারাগ্রাফের উপরিভাগের তথ্য, নয়তো এমন কারো লেখা যে কোনোদিন ক্লাসের সামনে দাঁড়ায়নি। সাধারণত বোঝা যায়। সত্যিকারের পড়ানোর সুরটা কপি করা নোটের থেকে আলাদা শোনায়।
আমি বিশ্বাস করি, বাস্তব শেখার জন্য শিক্ষার্থী আর শিক্ষকের মধ্যে যোগাযোগ দরকার। শেখাটা উপভোগ্যও হওয়া উচিত, এমন একটা পথ যেটা দিয়ে একটু আনন্দ নিয়ে হাঁটা যায়, আর সেই আনন্দটা সাধারণত তখনই আসে যখন নিজের মাতৃভাষায় শেখা যায়। আমি যা পেতাম তার খুব সামান্যই এসব দিত।
Artistic English কীভাবে আলাদা
তাই ঠিক করলাম, যে জিনিসটা আমি কখনো খুঁজে পাইনি সেটা আমি নিজেই বানাব।
এখানকার প্রতিটা লেসন লেখা হয়েছে ঠিক যেভাবে আমি ক্লাসে পড়াই। আমি তোমার সাথে কথা বলছি, তোমাকে প্রশ্ন করছি, প্রতিটা পয়েন্ট ধরে ধরে বুঝিয়ে দিচ্ছি, শুধু মুখস্থ করার জন্য নিয়মের তালিকা দিচ্ছি না। structure আর example থাকছে ইংরেজিতে, আর কঠিন ব্যাখ্যাগুলো দেওয়া হচ্ছে বাংলায়, যাতে তুমি শুধু উত্তরটা না, উত্তরের পেছনের যুক্তিটাও বোঝো।
সুরটা রেখেছি সহজ, স্পষ্ট, আর যেখানে পারি উপভোগ্য। grammar-এর বদনাম আছে যে ওটা নীরস আর কঠিন। আমার লক্ষ্য ঠিক তার উল্টোটা, যাতে grammar শেখা কখনো শাস্তির মতো না লাগে। শেখা যখন উপভোগ্য হয়, তখন পড়ানো আর শেখা দুটোই কাজ করতে শুরু করে।
Artistic English তোমাকে যা যা দেয়
এই সাইটের প্রতিটা লেসনের কাজ দুইটার একটা: হয় তোমার grammar-এর ভিত গড়া, নয়তো সামনে থাকা পরীক্ষার খাতার জন্য তোমাকে তৈরি করা।
grammar-এর লেসনগুলো তিনটা ধাপে সাজানো, যাতে তুমি যেখানে আছো সেখান থেকেই শুরু করতে পারো। Beginner লেসন ভিত গড়ে, parts of speech, sentence structure, আর যে নিয়মগুলো বেশিরভাগ শিক্ষার্থী কখনো ঠিকমতো শেখেনি সেগুলো। Essential লেসন তোমার পরীক্ষা যে মূল grammar-এর উপর দাঁড়িয়ে সেগুলো দেয়, যেমন tense, right forms of verbs, আর voice. Advanced লেসন সেই কঠিন টপিকগুলো নেয় যেগুলো একটা ভালো খাতাকে সাধারণ খাতা থেকে আলাদা করে, যেমন transformation of sentences.
grammar-এর পাশাপাশি আছে writing-এর লেসন, পরীক্ষায় তোমাকে যা লিখতে বলা হয় ঠিক সেগুলোর জন্য: application, paragraph, letter, আর essay. মুখস্থ করার টেমপ্লেট না, বরং প্রতিটার পেছনের যুক্তিটা, যাতে পরীক্ষার চাপেও তুমি নিজের মতো করে লিখতে পারো।
এই সবকিছুই একটা দলের জন্য: বাংলাদেশে SSC, HSC, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় admission, আর job পরীক্ষা দেওয়া শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য। সেটা যদি তুমি হও, তাহলে এখান থেকে তুমি যা পাবে তা হলো এই। তুমি অন্ধভাবে মুখস্থ করা বন্ধ করে বুঝতে শুরু করবে একটা নিয়ম কেন কাজ করে, ফলে আগে কখনো দেখোনি এমন প্রশ্নও সামলাতে পারবে। কঠিন জায়গাগুলো বাংলায় বুঝিয়ে দেওয়া, তাই ইংরেজিতে লেখা বলে কিছু আর ধোঁয়াশা থাকবে না। আর প্রতিটা লেসন সাজানো হয়েছে এই পরীক্ষাগুলো যা চায় সেই অনুযায়ী, তাই তোমার পড়ার সময়টা এমন নম্বরের পেছনে যায় যেগুলো তুমি সত্যিই তুলতে পারবে।
